Stress Urinary Incontinence

Dear Friends,

One out of 4 women suffer from Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) with a profound impact on quality of life. Women have a 11% chance of undergoing surgery for urinary incontinence. They, typically take 5 years to approach the doctor and if this is not enough 50 % doctors don’t query their patients on this complaint. This is because of a lack of confidence in counseling / treating these patients. Urogynecology is an evolving specialty and is very much a part of our day to day practice. Hence, it is imperative that we have a working knowledge of urogynecological disorders.

The theme as the name suggests is SUI and participants will be exposed in the surgical workshop to current minimally invasive techniques in SUI repair and the science behind them. The live workshop would be interspersed with discussions on evaluation, how to select patients for surgery, which procedure for which patient, surgical treatment, complications associated with these procedures and their management. An introduction to practical Urodynamics will be made. Practitioners will get a fair idea about when to order Urodynamics, what are the markers to look for and how to read a study.
